Mission briefing: In the run-up to the Mars Hub mainnet launch, the Ares public testnet has been deployed. Initially geared toward developers and validators, you can be the first to explore the new red planet and uncover bugs for bounties worth up to $100,000.
Mars Hub’s testnet, dubbed Ares, is now open to explorers, devs and potential validators throughout the galaxy. Developers and validators can interact with the latest features on the protocol’s standalone Cosmos-SDK appchain, or help uncover alien bugs for a chance at bounties worth up to $100,000.

Mars Hub serves as the central or organizing “hub” in a “hub and spoke” design. Other L1 chains that Mars Hub interacts with operate as “spokes.” Each spoke will be home to an outpost consisting of the Red Bank and rover credit account contracts.
Before the launch of Mars’ first outpost on Osmosis, the Hub must be established. That requires extensive testing and careful coordination among a set of 50 permissionless validators. After genesis, validation will be possible for anyone with enough $MARS or delegated $MARS to join the validator set.
The Ares testnet offers a sandbox for interested validators to familiarize themselves with the network and begin prepping their hardware for the upcoming mainnet launch. If you uncover a bug on Mars Hub testnet, report it via Immunefi.com to potentially earn a bounty worth as much as $100,000. Rewards are distributed according to the impact of the vulnerability based on the Immunefi Vulnerability Severity Classification System V2.2. This is a simplified 5-level scale, with separate scales for websites/apps, smart contracts, and blockchains/DLTs. As shown in the table below, the scale focuses on the impact of a given vulnerability.
All bug reports must come with a PoC with an end-effect impacting an asset-in-scope in order to be considered for a reward. Explanations and statements are not accepted as a PoC and code is required.
Rewards for critical blockchain/DLT vulnerabilities are further capped at 10% of the economic damage potentially caused. However, there is a minimum reward of $20,000 and a maximum reward of $100,000. Please visit the Mars Bug Bounty page on Immunefi for complete details.
